Maned Wolf Conservation Project. Sponsored by Little Rock Zoo & Association of Zoos and Aquariums, USA.
This poster was produced in response to recent reports from lowland Bolivia of Maned Wolves being hunted for their skin and bones, believed to hold medicinal properties.
The hunting of rare animals for use of their parts in folk medicine is a common practice in many parts of the world, and is notoriously difficult to challenge because of the underlying and deeply embedded traditions and beliefs, which sometimes come handed down from remote times. I believe cartoons may help gradually achieve an attitude shift in younger generations.
